We are Christians of all ages, from various backgrounds and walks of life, united in our devotion to Christ and to one another. We live and work in Reno, Sparks, Sun Valley, and Truckee.

When we meet together, we enjoy visiting about life and its struggles and joys. We pray together and for one another. We follow the teachings of the Bible as God's inspired message for us. We love and teach children. We dream and plan about ways to bless the community around us with the love and concern of Christ. In all things we value the simplicity and authenticity of New Testament Christianity. That's why we have the name 1st Century.

When we gather as a church on Sundays, we do all of the above and more. We sing songs of praise and encouragement. We do this a cappella (without musical instruments). We share the Lord's Supper (Communion) together every Sunday. Various brothers among our number rotate in leading the group through teaching and prayer. After our assembly we have classes for different ages. We love kids and have classes for them to enjoy and grow in getting to know God. Meanwhile, the rest of the adults gather for a time of discussion as a follow-up to the morning's lesson.

Everyone has a role and all members are encouraged to use their gifts and resources to the glory of God! Scripture teaches us that women and men have some distinct responsibilities within the body of Christ.
